Article Withdrawal & Retraction Policy

Academic Accountability Framework for AJIS

Integrity in academic publishing is the cornerstone of Assyfa Journal of Islamic Studies (AJIS). This policy outlines the circumstances under which an article may be withdrawn, retracted, or removed. We strictly follow the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) standards and Scopus best practices.

Publisher Neutrality: The Publisher stays neutral with regard to jurisdictional claims in published articles. The views and opinions expressed in published articles are those of the authors and do not necessarily reflect the official policy or position of the Publisher or the Editorial Office.
01

Manuscript Withdrawal (Pre-Publication)

Definition & Scope:

Withdrawal applies to manuscripts that are still in the Peer-Review or Production process but have not been formally published online.

  • Ethics of Time: AJIS invests significant resources in the review process. Authors should not withdraw manuscripts without profound justification (e.g., discovery of data errors).
  • Withdrawal Penalties: If a manuscript is withdrawn after the review process has started, the authors may be charged a Withdrawal Fee to cover administrative costs.
  • Prohibition of Multiple Submission: Withdrawing a paper because it has been accepted elsewhere is a serious ethical violation and may result in a 3-year ban from AJIS.
02

Article Retraction (Post-Publication)

Retraction is reserved for articles that are seriously flawed or contain unethical data. Following COPE guidelines, AJIS will retract an article if:

Unreliable Findings

Major errors in calculation, experimental bias, or data fabrication discovered post-publication.

Redundant Publication

The findings have previously been published elsewhere without proper cross-referencing.

Scientific Misconduct

Plagiarism, ghost-authorship, or unethical research practices involving human/animal subjects.

* Retracted articles will remain in the journal's archives but will be marked clearly with a "RETRACTED" watermark on every page.

03

Article Removal (Legal Exception)

In extremely rare cases, AJIS may be required to remove an article from its online database. This only occurs if the article is defamatory, violates legal rights, or poses a significant health/security risk. In these instances, the metadata (title and authors) will remain, but the text will be replaced with a screen indicating the article has been removed for legal reasons.
