AI & Generative Tools Policy

Assyfa Journal of Islamic Studies (AJIS)

2026 Editorial Framework

As we navigate the 2026 academic landscape, the Assyfa Journal of Islamic Studies (AJIS) continues to harmonize technological innovation with the timeless Islamic principles of Al-Haq (Truth) and Al-Maslahah (Public Interest). We demand absolute transparency in the use of Generative AI to ensure that human scholarly contribution remains the heart of Islamic academic discourse.

1. Human-Centric Authorship

AI systems cannot hold authorship status. In 2026, any manuscript found to be exclusively generated by AI without significant human critical analysis will be permanently banned. Human authors must provide a "Human Contribution Statement" detailing their specific intellectual labor.

2. Technical Disclosure

Authors must disclose the specific Large Language Model (LLM) version used (e.g., GPT-5, Gemini 2.5) and the methodology of its application. This includes prompt engineering strategies if they significantly influenced the research direction or data synthesis.

3. Peer Review Integrity

AJIS editors and reviewers are strictly prohibited from feeding submitted manuscripts into public or private AI models for evaluation or summarization. Any reviewer using AI to generate feedback must disclose it to the Editor-in-Chief for ethical validation.

4. Zero-Hallucination Policy

We implement a zero-tolerance policy for AI-generated hallucinations. Every Quranic verse, Hadith, and historical reference must be manually verified. Fabrication of religious texts or classical scholars' opinions will result in an immediate lifetime ban from AJIS.

5. Visual & Deepfake Guardrails

All visual elements generated or enhanced by AI must be watermarked and declared. The use of deepfake technology or AI-altered historical documents is strictly prohibited unless specifically studied as the research subject.

6. Global Ethical Compliance

AJIS complies with the updated 2026 Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and WAME guidelines regarding AI. We prioritize the "Right to Know" for our readers, ensuring every paper is transparent about its digital origin.

2026 Screening Protocol

Submissions undergo rigorous multi-layered screening using Turnitin AI 2026, Originality.ai, and internal semantic analysis to detect undisclosed synthetic content.
