Peer Review Process

Journal of Language Evaluation and Instructional Research (JLEIR)

To guarantee the scholarly quality, originality, and developmental value of each published study, Journal of Language Evaluation and Instructional Research (JLEIR) operates a strict Double-Blind Peer Review process. All personal identification of both authors and reviewers is kept completely confidential throughout the entire review pipeline.

Double-Blind Standard: Neither the reviewers know the identity of the authors, nor do the authors know the identity of the reviewers. This neutral framework minimizes bias and emphasizes scientific merit.

Review Workflow Stages

1. Desk Evaluation & Plagiarism Check

Upon submission, the Managing Editor performs an initial evaluation. The manuscript is checked via Turnitin (Similarity threshold max 20%) and screened for alignment with JLEIR's scope (language evaluation, assessment, or instructional methodologies). Submissions failing this desk screening are declined immediately.

2. Allocation to Independent Reviewers

Manuscripts passing initial checks are assigned to at least two independent peer reviewers. Reviewers are selected based on their specific expertise in language acquisition, educational testing, or teaching systems to ensure an authoritative, insightful critique.

3. Evaluation & Feedback Cycle

Reviewers have 3 to 4 weeks to critically assess the article's theoretical framing, methodology, data evaluation, and overall pedagogical contribution. Reviewers submit comprehensive feedback indicating strengths, structural weaknesses, and critical revision items.

4. Editorial Board Decision

Based on reviewers' reports, the Editor-in-Chief makes the final decision. The paper may be Accepted, Accepted with Minor Revisions, require Major Revisions, or be Declined. Revised manuscripts may undergo re-evaluation.

Ethical Review Standards

Preventing Conflicts

If a reviewer detects any affiliation overlaps, personal/competitive relationships, or professional conflicts of interest with the research draft, they are ethically obligated to notify the editor and decline the peer evaluation immediately.

Academic Integrity

Our reviewers evaluate work purely based on theoretical contribution, research rigor, empirical validity, and pedagogical implications. We explicitly adhere to COPE guidelines to prevent any national, racial, gender, or institutional bias.
